The Merry Peasant

I figured it was time this Robert Schumann classic had some lyrics...

The Merry Peasant

O! See the peasant he dances merrily,
And greets his master reverently on bended knee.
He works so hard to make his master proud,
Then goes to play at end of day when fields are plowed.
His sheep are shorn! His fields are so neat!
He reaps the corn and harvests the wheat,
But was not born to rule upon a country seat.
The peasant’s lot is not so hard to bear!
As you can tell by his vacant stare,
He’s a simple mind that makes his life so free from care.
